Default 2022 Rx350 Map updates

I have a 2022 RX350 bought new but I have never received a map update in the 3 years I have owned it. First 3 year subscription was free and they want me to renew. When I asked why my system has no update history, Lexus couldn’t say but want to charge me for manual updates. I haven’t gotten software updates history either…. On top of that they expect me to pay a subscription fee to keep getting updates, yeah the same updates I haven’t been getting for 3 years. Maps don’t even have my neighborhood and it’s 5 years old…. Should the maps update automatically? I can’t get a straight answer from them. What is dynamic navigation supposed to do? I have all the auto update options turned on but get nothing… when I ask system to check for updates it says I have the latest but shows no update history in 3 years… I am in USA if that matters.

How do you even update the maps on a 2022 RX?

I’ve used Google Maps since day of purchase new on my 2022. The same with our 2025.

I assumed dynamic navigation did updates, otherwise what’s the point of a subscription model?

There are “software update” options in setting but I assume that’s for the system itself. Mine has never updated and says it has latest.

Dealer offered me a usb update for $150, I declined because they couldn’t answer why I wasn’t getting updates over the air and couldn’t tell me if map updates were included.

If yuo look in the Navigation Manual there are several pages dedicated to your issue. If you do not have a subscription that included map updates and you do not have automatic updates turned on then you won't get them. They are temporary files used while you are using the destination feature. Sorry to say but read the manual.

that would be fine if it started up in that mode , but mine doesn’t and I can’t seem to get CarPlay to work over Bluetooth so it becomes cumbersome to get it started when I just need a quick look at traffic. I just use my phone, nav is useless.

I have had it “turned on” for 3 years with an “free” subscription to something and my 5 year old neighborhood never has appeared. The manual does not describe what it is supposed to do.

the dealer can’t even tell me what it does, I assume they read the manual?

Anyone have a 2022 RX with any software update history or know how to tell if updates are working or have worked in the past?

I live in a nine year old development and mine does not appear either. But, then again I never use my home address as a destination. Same with Google maps never use as home destination.

Well does this mean it never updates even if your paying for a subscription? What does the manual say? I do need to return home frequently and sometimes would like advice on the best route…. 10 year old maps are rather useless… and charging for updates when you’re already charging a subscription seems ridiculous…

Look at this, it tells you what each plan covers. https://support.lexus.com/s/article/...iption-Plans-L

I've never seen a map update in my 5 year ownership. I also have a '15 Lexus RC 350 F Sport never got any updates. HERE provides map updates but not sure they do it for non DVD vehicles.

On the 2022 RX you can only connect to CarPlay using the wired USB connection. But, I use a carlinkit for wireless. CarPlay did not go wireless on the RX until 2023 and later models. Google Maps are free with far better updates. Using the carlinkit the vehicle starts up in CarPlay mode, at least with wireless mode. Not sure in wired but I would think it would be the same.

I love Google Maps.
My 2020 has a wired connection, and it takes me 3 seconds to connect without even thinking. I looked at wireless options but everyone seemed to have delay and bugs, so I just use the cable.

CarPlay does the updating so the nav system is never out of date. I heard an engineer explain that by the time the nav system goes to production, it is already a few years after the design, so already feeling the age.
I hate traffic so I never drive anywhere without using the traffic function of Google Maps. Prefer it to the manufacturer native systems

dealer says there is a usb update available, but I am subscribed to “dynamic navigation” so not sure why I must pay (again) for updates?

The good news is that onboard navigation has already been surpassed by real-time driving apps for your phone. Waze provides up-to-the-minute information regarding closures, hazards, police presence, and others, and will recalculate driving directions accordingly. Over the years, Waze has saved me from sitting for hours in a backup due to an accident on two occasions. Google Maps is also very good, as Google owns both apps. Save your time and money and forget about paying for onboard navigation updates.
