Hi after many months of researching which carplay to go with. I went with Carputech wireless carplay module. They did exactly the samething as Beatsonic but half the price cheaper. I will update when i have any problem with the unit
I just installed this product few days ago and watched different videos on how to remove the trims inside the car. I will link the video I used.
PRO:
Everything works as described. My car have OEM 360 camera / parking assist / and back up camera. You just have to hold the menu button to change to Carplay or go back to OEM interface. You can either use AUX or Bluetooth to connect.
CON:
If you don't turn off your bluetooth and start your car, carplay will load up even though last interface you use was OEM interface. I wish there's a way to load the last interface you used instead of turning off your bluetooth everything you start your car if you want to use OEM interface on start up.
Here's the picture where to install your mouse cable. the red is where you route the cable back to the radio. The video doesn't show you how to remove the mouse. you will have to remove the side trim on the center console and then use a trim removal tool to pry the mouse up
Where to hide the USB Cable. Route the USB cable before installing back the trim. there will be a little tiny space to route your USB cable so you can hide it under the radio when not in use.
Where to Hide the Carplay Module and Antenna. you will have to pull the passenger side panel half way to put the module and antenna inside the panel. In the video the guy used the double sided tape and taped onto the panel but I didn't i just tucked everything into the empty space lol.
Video of my using the wireless carplay.
Thanks for the post!
Seems like this unit's menu button serves as the Siri/Google assistant button (the equivalent of the steering wheel "voice command" button)
I just bought a 2018 Rx 450h with 35k miles on it, awesome right?! Absolutely 💯 the only stinking part, no OEM Android Auto. So I had a local professional in Durham NC install a F1RST Automotive unit hoping it would be just as good as an OEM on a 2022 Rx. So far doesnt seem as good. There isn't a dedicated hard button to call up Google Assistant, which is probably ly the only useful feature of all this given that the joystick isn't super smooth on the android auto interface. I just wanna fet in the car, press a button and ask Google to take me places and play my Playlist, no joystick, no more buttons to scroll to.
Anyone have any knowledge of this F1RST Automotive unit and whether it supports a dedicated button for the Google assistant? Im wondering if they just disnt install it correctly.
