You say that the factory parts are fatigue tested to 50,000 to 100,000 cycles? How do you know that? I would love to know somebody who has insider information on all this stuff. Were you part of quality control at the factory?

I was being a little facetious with the 100,000 cycle number. I don’t work for Lexus

I would be more than happy to believe what you say if you have some proof. ISO 16750 standards and testing are recommendations and not requirements for car companies. I doubt that my liftgate has even cycled 2500 times in 9 years. I would hate to think what would happen after 30,000 or 50,000 cycles. If they tested these liftgates, I know they didn't test mine.

Unfortunately, nothing is 100%. It can’t account for water or dust getting into the strut/motor area, a gate that’s slightly misaligned so the actuator works harder than in the factory test, a weak 12 V battery so current spikes, or an early ECU logic issue (there is even an RX power back door inoperative TSB). Those conditions can push the real world load well above what the actuator saw in the lab.

I changed mine out and provided a link to a great replacement. That’s the point of my post. It’s $165. Not a big investment or insurance to have some ready if yours go.

Water, dust and voltage spikes. Don't forget moon phases and high tides.

I don't mean to be disrespectful to any members here in this forum, but if you make claims about Lexus systems being tested for 10's of thousands of times before they are installed in one of our RX cars somewhere or sometime. That's fine. Where's the proof? Show me.

Lol. Okay. Lexus is the first ever to not stress test their parts. You got me!

I guess that proves it. You said so. Good enough for me.

It’s $165. Go cry me a river. No need to be an ******* over someone trying to help. I don’t give two ***** if your liftgate fails or not. You’re a loser.

I will never disclaim someone trying to help but we are still waiting for your claims of 10's of thousands of cycles of rear struts? Where is the proof? There is no proof. And now you want to call each other names? How low do you wish to go?

You’re just being a dunce to be one. No major automaker publicly provides part-level stress-test data. It’s proprietary information. But if you would have read the listing to these replacements, you would see they were stress tested 50,000 times. But I’m sure they just pulled their number from thin air.
