Water pump replacement
So my water pump is making a noticeable rumbling sounding like the bearing is going. Looking at what parts I need to order and see 2 different options for the water pump. This is for a 2017 FSport with 186k km (116k miles).

Also, any other parts required for this job? Description says it comes with the gasket, I just want to be sure I have everything when I take this apart. Anything else to replace in that area when I'm there? Thanks |
Ask the dealer to pull the part number associated with your VIN.

from what i can remember off the top of my head you would need a water pump and 2 gal of coolant. it would also be a good idea to change the t-stat while your at it.
Aisin WPT808 Comes with gasket Aisin THT024 Bando Belt 6PK1560 all can be found on rock auto along with coolant of your choice. you can call the dealer about the PNs you posted but i wouldn't be surprised if they superseded to 1 number. |
Yeah I ordered the WPT808 from rockauto yesterday along with thermostat oring.

Will these motors purge any air bubbles in the cooling system on their own with just keeping the coolant bottle full?
|
i wouldn't risk it. your introducing a lot of air into the cooling system by removing the WP. get a spill-free style funnel and bleed it with the heater valve open.

just turn the heater all the way up while its running. that opens the valve.
|
Lol you made it sound like it's some physical valve in the cooling system you have to open.
I think I'll just top off the rad and overflow bottle and let it go through few heat cycles monitoring/topping off the overflow bottle. Here is the official procedure I belive:

the bleeder valve will make make it much quicker process but not all models have them for some reason. my 18 doesn't.
with the funnel its a 10-15 min process max and you don't risk overheating your motor. |
The Lexus models with the 2GR-FKS engines unfortunately do not have a coolant bleeder valve. This would include the 4th generation RX models.
|
good to know. its not just me then lol.

Original vs "aftermarket", they grinded off TOYOTA from the aftermarket :)
It takes some effort getting to this thing. Not sure how much dealers/shops charge for this job but it would be a good number of labor hours. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.clu...61cce7201d.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.clu...7eef120060.jpg |
