Default Door handle rust

I’m wondering if anyone else has seen this with their 2017 to 2022 RX 350. Recently, a couple of my 2017 door handles have started to drip rust onto the paint. in speaking with my dealer, they explained that they have seen this before. It has to do with the inner parts of the door handle that are made of steel. They can replace the parts and buff out the very light rust stains, but it is going to cost me $1500. Obviously, I am peeved at this flaw. My car has always been garaged and only has 40,000 miles on it.

It is certainly something for you to watch out for. I don’t know if they improve this some later years.

Has anyone else seen this?

Yes, common issue with RX's in salt areas. 2005 RX330 had this issue, my 2016 RX had it and families 2017 RX has the same issue.

The hardware attaching the handles to the door rust from inside the door and the the rusty water runs down over the paint, leaving a stain mark.

You could buff the rust out of the paint regularly to get rid of the view.

Not sure why Toyota did not change the material on this hardware from 2003 RX until 2022.

You could remove it all yourself and replace the rusty hardware. Parts are not expensive, its labour.
