Hello! My wife has a 2019 RX350 and for quite some time she has had problems with the rear hatch. Unfortunately we couldn't show the dealer the problem, it wouldn't do it when we had the car there. It's now out of warranty and the problem has gotten much worse. Basically it doesn't open or close correctly with the buttons, I have to manually push the thing up and down. I did try to do a sensor reset using a video on YT but no luck. The picture shows how far it will open and the little YT clip shows what happens when trying to close it. Can anyone tell me what's wrong? Thanks much!

similar thing happened to me after I replaced the batterry a few months ago . What happened with mine was the latch was in a closed position so I pried it open with a flat head . The latch is located next to the trunk open/close button , see if yours is in a closed position when this happens .

Since you don't yet have a solution, let's start with some clarifying and diagnostic questions:
You mentioned it won't go up or down with the buttons. Are you referring to the inside door button for down (as shown in your video) and the external door button for up?
Briefly describe the behavior when trying to raise the door with the external button.
Does the external lock button, beside the door-open button, work? (With keyfob on your person, the vehicle unlocked, and the rear door closed, pressing the small lock button should lock the vehicle. A single press of the larger door activation button should unlock the vehicle but not open the door. A second press of the activation button should cause the door to open.)
Does it work with the keyfob button (up and/or down)?
Does it work with the dash button (up and/or down)?
I assume that the 2019 is the same as the 2020 in that it has the ability in vehicle settings to adjust the height of the rear down when raised. If correct, what happens if you use those settings to try to get the door to change its behavior?
You mentioned that you can operate the door manually. Do you get any sense of binding when raising or lowering the door?
Have you performed a long battery disconnect (disconnecting the negative terminal and leaving it disconnected for 30+ minutes)?

Getting back to this, I've tried multiple ways to open and close. I can't find any rhyme or reason, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, either each of the methods available (dash, fob, etc). The only thing I haven't done is a disconnect of the battery. I don't notice any binding when closing by hand, other than I'm clearly fighting a motor with alot of resistance. When it stops itself, it does seem like there is something binding and stops it, but i can't see anything.
