It might be a good idea to check under the hood at least once every couple of months. Not every garage is rodent proof.

Nothing is 100% rodent proof. Also, Peppermint oil doesn't work.

We're snowbirds, so we leave our 2010 RAV4 in the garage for the winter. I buy whatever Home Depot has on their shelf as a rodent repellent and place it around under the hood. I always see droppings on the floor when we get home, but never had any problems with the car.

I have sticky traps on the sides of the garage door. Seems to be working for us.

If we park on the garage outside, the rodents chewed on our engine insulation pad and other insulation in the engine bay. Parking on the streets appears ok at the moment also.

We are afraid of the same issue that the OP have on the lights. The rodents must be entering on the side slits somewhere in the front of the vehicle. Any ideas where?
