Post steering binding when on cruise control / lane centering

I have recently purchased a 2022 rx350 Exec trim.15200 kms. when driving normally at 50 km or at highway speed at 100 km the steering is tight and responsive.when i engage the radar adaptive cruise control, the steering seems to be binding somewhat almost like there is something preventing the steering wheel from moving smoothly and fluidly as when it is NOT on cruise control. my 2013 rx350 did not have adaptive radar cruise control nor lane monitoring. im wondering if the problem the steering box, the lane centering control or the cruise control? any incite if any one has had any prior or similar experience with this anomoly would be greatly appreciated! cheers!

that seems normal to me. My steering stiffens when I engage the steering assist (not sire the exact name). What bugs me is the car constantly seeking the lane marking by drifting left and dripping right...

I noticed the steering was stiff, or harder to move when the lane monitoring system was engaged on my mothers' NX a couple years ago, and turned it off, stiffness went away. I don't care for the lane monitoring system and don't use it on out RX or GX.

Thank you 15RX98422 and JimInTN for your quick responses!... As you've both mentioned, the LTA ( lane trace assist) is the culprit.. when i turn it off the steering stiffness disappears instantly. New pony, new tricks! lots more bells n whistles than on my previous RX. Again. thanks again for your quick response .. much appreciated!

I was just getting ready to point that out before you mentioned LTA in a second post. Tip: if you signal first, it won’t fight you when changing lanes. I like it personally, but many people find these “nannies” obtrusive and disable them. They were designed for safety purposes, but if you find yourself fighting those features you should absolutely disable them. Enjoy your new ride and welcome to ClubLexus!

I believe this is similar to when cruise control first came out. Some hated them and would not use it. This is true especially in England. They still think one needs to drive manual cars and teeny engines. My sister in law in UK wanted a used auto Civic and couldn't find one. This is from a person who proclaim to me that automatics is not real driving. LOL!
