Back Ordered Parts
Hello everyone new member here, I own a 2012 Lexus Rx350 78,000 miles. I have a pretty decent dent and scratch from another vehicle backing into my rear left driver side door. The repair is through insurance and my body shop guy told me the door would be in around 5 days. Well one week later he found out it was back ordered and no time frame given. Fortunately for me everything is still operational and I can drive it around but I wanted to know if anyone had any recent experiences with body shop repair parts on back order or other ideas on obtaining part sooner. Its been almost 2 months since part was ordered.
The only other option is a used door from a junkyard. Some body shops have access to used and used refurbished parts. I recall I had to replace my rear bumper and they installed a refurbished one although the shop did paint it to match. That is what State Farm would pay for.
Appreciate the response I’ve called around and all the body shops are having the same problem with parts/labor. Couple places told me to just take it to the dealership but I will probably just wait this out and wait for part to come in.
