Purchased an L-Certified Pre-Owned 2015 RX350 last December (2021). About a few weeks ago I noticed a loud ticking noise while idling and took it to the dealership last Saturday - they've taken the engine apart and still looking to see what the issue is, they're guessing it's probably the valve lifters. As of today they are still working on it but at least they give me a day-to-day update. I'm just glad this is covered by warranty and I'm driving a zippy ES300h as a loaner in the meantime.

Anyone else have had this issue?

 

UPDATE: Got a call from the dealership - it was definitely the valve lifters. Parts are ordered and I get to drive the loaner (2022 ES300h) for a few days more.

 

How many miles were on the vehicle? How often was the oil changed? Was it at the Lexus prescribed 10,000 mile interval? This failure may be a good reason the oil should really be changed before 10,000 miles.

Yes all due maintenance was performed and I purchased it last year as L-Certified. It's just bad lifters and the warranty has confirmed it will cover all costs of repair.
