Folks,
Tow hitch options with tow wiring harness questions were widely discussed on this forum, but I could not find (may be I missed) a reasonable and neat option for mounting the bracket (any type) for wiring harness 4-way connector.
I have a 2015 RX350 AWD with tow prep. package and I am planning to install Curt hitch C13143 with Tekonsha 118252 wiring harness. I don't like to rap the harness around the tow hitch like Etrailer video suggest and am trying to find a neat way to install the bracket (any type) for the 4way connector.
I would really appreciate you share your experience on mounting the wire harness. In reality, I am open for any neat suggestions for tow hitch, wire harness and bracket for it.
Have you ever seen anyone use such a bracket on a Toyota or Lexus?
There is a reason everyone just wraps or zip ties it to the hitch. It works, it is simple and convenient.
With the big plastic body under cladding, there really is no place to install what you propose. What purpose would it serve? This is not a Dodge Ram pickup with duallies and a fifth wheel.
I have installed hitches on several vehicles and always just wrap or zip tie the wiring to the hitch.
My current favorite mounting bracket for a 4-flat connector is the Hopkins 48595 - only $3.99 at Advance Auto. The attached photos doesn't show it on an RX but it could likely be used on one. I drilled two small holes in the bumper cover and attached the Hopkins bracket with small screw bolts, washers and nuts. I had to wrap the 4-way connector with electrical tape so it wouldn't wiggle in the Hopkins bracket but that might not be necessary depending on the brand you're using.
Definitely don't wrap trailer wiring harness around the hitch or zip tie it to the hitch. That looks tacky and makes the wiring harness subject to damage.

Reason: grammer
I looked at my RX and I have the connector pins cover strap looped through one of the anti-sway brackets to hold it when not in use. The wire is otherwise unsupported and just exits from the body cladding near there.

Thank you. I will order components and see how it looks with cover strap looped through anti-sway brackets. Do you have Curt Hitch 13143?
