Default The dreaded Climate Control servo issue??

Hey guys!

I've been having some trouble with the wife's rx350 the last couple days. The climate control seems to be stuck. Air only comes out the defrost vents no matter where the mode selector is.

After doing a bunch of searching, I found many issues with GS mode servos. Didn't find anything RX specific. Has anyone had these issues with their Rx? Is there a DIY/write up somewhere for removing the RX servo/servos? I just spend some time popping off the glove box, and I gotta say it's a maze in there. If someone could point me in the right direction as to which servo the Mode servo is even, I would be forever grateful.

Thanks a lot!

You will find plenty 'mode' issues in the first gen RX forum. The third gen is relatively new, so you may be among the first few.

I did see lots of those, including some input from yourself if I'm not mistaken(thank you if that's the case). Not much out there for the 3rx.

I did find some info cross searching Highlander forums, but again no definitive answers. Some guys are pulling the whole dash out to get to the passenger servo. What I can tell so far, is that Lexus combined the mix/mode servo into one on the passenger side in these newer models, which obviously doubles the price of one, and complicates replacement as well.

I'm going to dive under the dash again tonight, and see what I can find. Ill do almost anything to avoid removing the dash.

Can anyone verify if the mode selector servo can be replaced without pulling the dash? I’m about to help my cousin replace the mode selector servo in his 2010 RX350.

I circled what I believe is the mode selector servo. This is in the passenger side footwell.

Update: I pulled the glove box out today. And got the (3 total?) screws out of the cover that hold the servos in place. The cover doesn’t seem to want to come off. However, it is loose. Anyone have any tricks on getting the mode servo out?
