Traffic updates (free XM trial)
I noticed yesterday, May 13, that the navigation on my 2011 had traffic updates. Something like: "In seven kms on route, slow down for four kms..."
This is the first time I heard any traffic update on the nav. Of course, i rarely turn the nav on but I was pleasantly surprised.
Anyone else noticed this?

I also suddenly noticed traffic updates when using the navigation from Phoenix to Tucson AZ on Mother's Day. It warned me of an 8 mile traffic jam on I-10 - unavoidable but accurate. I was very surprised. I thought I had to pay for these updates - at least that was the case when I bought my 2010 RX-450h.
My wife said she noticed it the previous week too.

XM is having a free2 weeks May 14-29
and the wife said the traffic updates were given , it was the first time she heard them
Traffic updates did not work when we had the free 3 months when we got the RX

Makes sense. I didn't get any email notification about this though - and although I've canceled my Sirius XM since 2014, they still send me emails now and then. But Mother's Day was the 13th and my wife had noticed it before, both events are before that free period.

I also have received a traffic updates up here in Toronto,Canada. I never had it b4. (Anyone know who is offer this service( Sirius or Lexus )).
Would it tell me that there is a accident, road closure , heavy traffic...........I haven`t fully used the service.
Also I notice so far it only for main highways No local road traffic updates.

I was away and on start, UPDATE screen ... "do not turn off" and Hard drive image was on the NAV screen, Driving out I saw the green half arrows indicating moving traffic on major highways. Collateral damage was that North Up was set on the map display. Fix was simple.
Sad that it will go away. You have to pay to play.

Did Lexus push an upgrade to the Nav system?
Recently, my wife noticed that the factory Nav system in our RX450h is now showing real-time traffic information. Specifically, icons showing accidents, as well as freeway speed (Green Yellow and Blue) have started showing up as of about 3 weeks ago. We have not had the vehicle to a dealer in years, so there’s 0% chance that this was done as part of a routine service. Has this happened to anyone else? Any explanation?

We are getting free Sat for now and that is why you are seeing traffic. Most likely it will be short lived, unless some one likes the features and pays for subscription.

SiriusXM activated every radio between May 14 - 29. Good Marketing idea, but bad process getting the word out.

Update .. today I got the banner 'unsubscribed' and now I get the commercial to join the Sat Radio.
Well it gave me company on a long trip we took over Memorial day. ... Thank You Serius.
