2013 RX350 Car Charger/USB Not Working
Hey all, first time poster. It seems that there's a variety of issues dealing with someone's car charging port and more commonly the USB port.
I have an iPhone 7 that works fine on other car chargers, wall chargers, etc. For some reason, my car doesn't charge the phone, on either the USB port OR the car charging port. It wasn't always like this though, meaning it used to work. I've tried swapping out the cable (MFI certified) for the USB and car charger, swapping out the car charger, and charging other people's iPhones. None of those options worked (the cables and car chargers worked elsewhere on cars or computers, etc). In addition, whenever I plug in the phone to the car charger 12V socket, the charging on the phone flashes on and off rapidly (between charging and not charging) all the while actually draining my battery. The USB port does this as well although most of the time the phone doesn't register any sign of charging at all.
Also, bluetooth has been cutting in and out (not while it's plugged) but rather the system seems to "reboot" itself, only when I'm on the phone and receive another call. Rebooting leads to resetting of certain settings (voice prompts get turned back on in this case) and has to initialize and reconnect to the phone.
I would be surprised if the two were related but seems that the car is having a host of electronic issues. I don't really care about the "reboot" bluetooth problem but would be really nice to be able to charge my phone again. If anyone has any insight on this matter please let me know! It would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

The USB port on a '13 is really just an interface and really does not provide enough power to charge anything. It can keep my iPod Nano charged but is worthless when it comes to charging a phone.
Not sure what's wrong with the 12v socket in your 350. I use mine with a car charger in my 450h and everything is fine.

You need an automotive electrician to check the circuit.

The fuse for the 12v socket is in the box under the dash at the driver side. You need to lay on the floor and look up with a flashlight, it is a small rectangular box and the lid pops off. Inside the lid is a diagram for the fuses. On my 2010 which only had an outlet inside the center console, I added another in the open center area like in the newer models. I used a fuse tap on that 12v power socket fuse which I think was number 13 and was at the end of one of the 2 rows of fuses. You need tweezers or small needle nose pliers to remove them, they are very tiny.

Does the light in the glove compartment still work? I had this same issue with the usb and charger port and then realized the
light didn’t work either. Changed the fuse and that wasn’t the problem. It ended up being a loose connection.
