Transmission Issue after 3 days of purchase
I purchased a 2010 Lexus RX 350 with 140K miles from a Lexus dealership with no warranty.
3 days and 440 miles later, my transmission went bad.
Towed my Lexus to dealership and after a week of waiting they called me to tell me that they would rebuild the transmission for free. They also provided me a nice 2017 RX 350 loaner.
2 days later, they called me that transmission is not repairable and they would order new (re-manufactured transmission) which is great. I appreciate that they are taking care of this.
My question is about re-manufactured transmission. Is remanufactured transmission is as good as new and how many miles should I expect from this transmission.

In the ideal world a reman means each component is inspected and to some extent tested and verified to meet the original specification. That said, sometimes things are missed. However, as failures are understood, updates are applied that reduce the risk of repeating some failures.
In general a reman trans is getting all new gaskets, seals, sealing rings, o-rings, pistons, friction and steel discs, sprague clutches, bushings, a reman torque converter, and any questionable electronics or hard parts like planetary gears etc are replaced.
In many cases these will last as long as the original trans if things are not missed. Keeping in mind that the cooling system must be flushed so any debris is not sent to the new trans...
Glad they helped you out. Silly guys wouldn't give me an HID unit for a car 1,500 miles out of warranty. A couple hundred or 4K in your case.
Good luck!

It depends...
...upon who does the REMAN.
If it's by Toyota/Lexus (or under their umbrella/specifications) it could be Better than original - in that they'd be using upgraded (later-engineering-specifications) parts (having had years since the car was built to diagnose and remedy the cause).
it is also remotely possible that your "REMAN" transmission would, in actuality, be a new transmission - but marked/sold as REMAN for inventory purposes.
In any event, the quality of the transmission is less of a concern than is the quality of the removal/installation.

You'll be fine. It will outlast most of the rest of the car. Sounds like the dealer is giving great service....not too many of them around anymore.

You should also find out if the reman transmission comes with a warranty. Sometimes you'll get a year or 2 or xx amount of miles warranty on reman parts so it'd be worth to ask.
