The other day my friend tried to load his extra long driver into my Gen 3 RX horizontally but could not quite fit it in straight and was complaining that he didn't have a problem like that with my old RX. I told him it's nonsense and that it's his problem using an oversized driver shaft that is 2 inches longer than stock in his quest to make up for his weak swing. (I just a figured the current model's trunk was much roomier).

Check out the pic below however. I overlayed the current trunk's roll away cover on top of the old trunk's roll cover and was surprised to find that the old trunk was much wider. I guess the boxy shape of the older model provided wider trunk space......
