2015 RX350 Remote Oil Filter Install
I installed a remote filter on my 2015 RX350 located in the engine bay below passenger side cover. Filter is double the size of the stock filter and easy to get to. I like to change my own oil and combined with the use of a vacuum oil extractor through the dipstick opening, I doesn't get any easier.

No offense taken. I agree that if the drain bolt were on the bottom of the pan, that would be the case. However, it is not. Approximately 1/4 of a quart of oil remains in the sump following draining from the drain bolt. Additionally, I use dry compressed air introduced at the remote mount to evacuate oil remaining in the engine oil galleys.

The engine adapter and remote mount was acquired through Baxter Performance (bpadapters.com), the hose and AN-10 fittings were sourced locally. This is professional stuff usually relegated for off-road and racing but works well for domestic use.

There is not a lot of room available under the hood for the relocated filter, especially for a conventional remote mount. I made use of the Baxter Performance inverted remote mount and attached it to inner fender well frame adjacent to the anti-lock brake system. This configuration makes sense if mounted at high position in the engine bay. As for the engine adapter, I utilized their multi-port remote adapter. The adapter simply screws in like the factory cap and does not hang down any further than the factory cap. Due to the close proximity of the engine adapter to the engine frame I utilized two AN-10 45 degree hose fittings for clearance and proper hose routing. On the remote mount connections, I utilized two AN-10 90 degree hose fittings attached to the side ports of the remote mount. The 5/8 ID hose routes along the side of the radiator for length of about 2 1/2 ft. For the oil filter, I'm using a Mobil 1 M1-209 and is much larger than the stock filter but still clears the engine bay cover.

Thanks for those excellent details, Dext. I have a couple more questions.
1) Would it be too much trouble to take some pictures and post them of the entire arrangement? I became very interested in this as an upgrade option after seeing the topside mounted oil filter on my daughter's "new to her" 2006 4Runner with the 4.0L V6.
2) Also, I can see a similar "catch basin" built into the remote filter mount in your picture. Can that "catch basin" be drained to the ground through an auxiliary nipple and piece of tubing run down to the ground, or do you have to just manually mop it up and clean it out with towels/rags after a filter change? I posted a picture of her top mount configuration below with two options for how to drain out the "drippings" from the filter removal process (one is a drain tube, and the other is a "catch cup").
UPDATE: I went to the Baxter Performance site and looked over the products, and they appear to be well built units. However, at $200 for EACH of the TWO pieces required (total of $400 plus S&H plus tubing plus AN adapters)... this modification is way to pricey for me to justify the expense, especially since I want to slide under the vehicle at every oil change anyway for a good visual inspection of the underside components.
