Default Vin Decoder from Club Lexus Forums

Found this little Gem while surfing around the Club Lexus Forums! It is a handy tool. Comes in handy, especially when searching for your next Lexus!
I found a couple of "didn't know that" about the RX that I wound up buying, like the Smart-Stop feature

You can also register at LexusDrive.com and enter the VIN to find ALL of the dealer logged maintenance for a potential used Lexus purchase.

Thanks F250!
My Salesman showed me that particular report BEFORE I signed the on dotted line. On the certified RX that I purchased, The maintenance report held a wealth of data, which aside from the obvious services performed gave me a snapshot "into the life" of the RX 350 that I ultimately purchased.
One thing that I was able to glean from that particular maintenance report on the vehicle that I bought, was that timely periodic maintenance was performed by the PRIOR owner's dealer before it was ultimately sold to my own dealer for sale. Since I plan on keeping this RX for a LONG period of time, where the hidden effects of past problems could foreshadow possible trouble down the road, after the certified warranty has expired. Through the years, I have turned my vehicles over at a rapid clip. I bought less expensive models, not known for longevity. While I can't predict the future, I wanted the most reliable vehicle possible

Not a very active forum member, I usually just come on here for research prior to purchasing used Lexus.

But I have to say, I am SUPER annoyed... the Vin Decoder https://www.clublexus.com/forums/vindecoder.php really F'd me over.

I've been searching for the right used GX470, specifically with KDSS, and I've been relying on the Vin Decoder to show me which listings are worth following up on. So I finally find the right car, with KDSS, or so the lovely Vin Decoder indicates. So I proceed to drive 2hrs in Los Angeles rush hour traffic (later to drive 2hrs back home) only to lay down and peak up under the front wheels to find that it DOES NOT in fact have KDSS.

So, be forewarned, the thing plain doesn't work. And it led me on a very frustrating goose chase.

Yes, there is a disclaimer stating that it's not necessarily accurate... Then why the hell make it available as a tool at all?!?!?

And yes, I could have made sure the dealer checked to see if it had it, but they don't know what the hell they're doing either, so you can't trust them to know what a car does and doesn't have. Not to mention I've probably passed up several GX's that DO have KDSS on them, that the Vin Decoder shows them NOT having.

Long story short, it may seem like a useful tool, but it's actually just a liability. Rant complete.
