I checked my dealer and they wanted $175 installed! Considering that there are only 2 manufacturers of batteries in the US..(Johnson Controls and Decca), you can always buy something like a Sears Die hard, or Interstate battery. I understand that Costco now carries their batteries under the Interstate Label, but I think you have to put it in yourself.

Actually the Lexus brand really is not that bad a deal, considering that taking out the old one and putting in a new one is a PIA, considering the weight and awkward placement in the deep well (TOUGH ON YOUR BACK!)of the RX 350. The tool kit in the RX350 does have a tool/strap for DIY. Also consider that batteries can be dangerous to handle with all that weight plus the acid, and shock potential. After considering all, I paid the piper and went back to the dealer for mine, also got a charging system check for zip AND TERMINAL CLEANING....

The young service writer actually tried to convince me that Lexus made their own Batteries since the Sticker said Lexus...LOL/

BTW: do not forget that there is that refundable Core Chg!

Roughly $105 for an Interstate at Costco, labelled as Interstate brand. There is a refundable $15 core charge which you get back when you take them the old battery ( unless you take the old one in when you buy the new one). Taking the old one is before installing the new one is easily done if you connect your battery charger to the cables on "trickle" charge before removing the cables from the old battery (you also need to leave the charger hooked up until you install the new battery)... that way you won't lose any settings!

The danger is only there if you connect something metal across the two battery posts, which is a pretty low risk, and you almost have to TRY to do that.

The acid is completely contained and should not be a problem at all unless you drop the battery on concrete and break open the case. That said, they are heavy, but that's where husbands, sons, grandsons, friends, and good neighbors can help if you have an issue with the awkward weight.

Aside from the weight and the DIY remove & replace (R&R), it's only two nuts to loosen to remove the cables. You DO have to remember to disconnect and reconnect the plastic vent tube, but that sort of becomes obvious when you're doing the work.

Advance Auto will install new batteries for free, or think of it as part of the battery price. I see you are in NY and since they are an east coast chain, you may have stores up there. You can check prices and find stores at their web site.
