Default Gas choice

I currently use 93 premium. The manual says it can use 87. What are the pros vs cons with different gas choice? What do you use?

The RX will pick-up a few horsepower and maybe even better gas mileage with 93 octane.

My 2011 RX350 requires premium gas, but the 2013 on up models can use both regular and premium gas.

The 2011 makes 275hp on 91 octane(my RX makes a little more due to using 93) and the 2013 models make 270hp on regular.

The 2013 engines also lose a lot of torque on regular gas as well.

257ft/lbs for the 2011 model on premium gas and only 248ft/lbs for the 2013 models on regular.

So the RX350 loses about 5hp/9ft-lbs torque when going from 91 octane to 87 octane.

Not much, but the RX350 need every little bit of power/torque due to its weight.

My RX350 AWD runs good and averages between 20-21mpg on 93 octane with mostly city driving.

I do have an aftermarket performance air filter which may help also, but the engine runs smooth with 93.

We have a few threads on this topic already. Sean, please do a search. You might want to use the key words "dead horse" since that's how some of us feel about it.
