Default Hood struts

Hi, my wife's 2010 RX350 needed some washer fluid. When I raised the hood it would not stay up until I got it to the maximum extent. It was obviously weak and would start to close on its own.

She took it in to a local Lexus dealer who checked it while inside and warm and reported no leaks and no failure. They say it will not be fixed absent anything wrong with them. I explained that it could fall on my wife's arms when she is adding washer fluid which would be bad.

To placate me they are keeping it overnight to see how it acts when cold.

Any thoughts?

Was it cold outside or in your garage when the struts where weak?
I've noticed they don't hold well in the cold, but back to normal when the weather is warmer
(similar deal with my 4Runner - rear hatch struts).
Just need to keep this in mind, I guess.

Very cold even in garage. Lexus left it outside and confirmed that they are too weak when cold and are replacing them under warranty.
