Added an aftermarket Blind Spot Monitoring System
Had BSM system installed in the RX yesterday.
I haven't had a chance to do a lot of driving yet, but I can already tell the system crys wolf a LOT. It's put on the low setting, and it still picks up the curb (sometimes) when driving. It does have an option to be switched on only when the turn signal is activated, and you can add an optional gps module which turns the system on at 35km/h.
I personally keep my mirrors adjusted so that there is no blind spot, but the RX is the wife's vehicle and she likes to set the mirror so she can see the side of the RX in the mirror, this setting is what creates the blind spot.
Here are a few pics
For what the system cost me and the price I paid for installation (free), I'm a happy camper. Would I recommend this system to anyone else, that I'm not too sure about. The sensors need to installed as far back and as high as possible to reduce picking up the curb. The installer did have to remove the bumper to install these.
I will likely add the gps module down the road. The system comes in silver, white and black, so it blends right in with the RX.

Mine was about $136 off ebay, not sure if it's a goshers one.
Just search blind spot monitoring or blind spot system on ebay.
I have also turned off the beep the system makes when the turn signal is activated and there is something in the blind spot. The lack of beeping make the system a lot more tolerable.

Quick update after having lived with the system for a few days now. The over activeness doesn't bother me any more, and shutting off the beep makes the system not as annoying as it felt before. The system has definitely added additional safety to the vehicle, which was the original intention of the install.
I will definitely be installing similar systems in family members vehicles during spring or summer this year, and will likely get the 4 sensor system that reduces the over activeness considerably. I will try to install those systems as high as the bumpers allow.
The wife has also gotten used to the system now, and the basic philosophy is, if the light is on, you can't go in that direction, which is basically true.
