Tail Light Tint
I had this mod done about a year ago but haven't had the time to post it.
Ever since I got the RX last year I wasn't to crazy about the tail lights and my options were few:
1) Replace with 2013 tail lights: Too expensive especially with a new baby!
2) DIY tail light tint offered on the internet: Read a couple of reviews and almost everybody said it's a waste of money.
I was still interested in the possibility of a tint so after some research I found a local shop in Miami that specializes in tail light tint so I paid a visit and was greeted by the owner who personally works on the tints himself. I did not want a dark tint (I wanted something more closer to the bumper red lights) so the owner was surprised and had to order the red tint since he didn't have it on hand.
Here's the finished product. All I can say is I'm glad I didn't tackle this myself because this is not a DIY for the inexperienced! Due to the curving shape of the RX's tail lights this involves careful flexing of the tint with a heat gun. At the end the owner admitted he thought he got over his head tackling this project but it came out really well, this guy's an artist!
Maintenance is minimal with some paste wax every couple of weeks and so far no peeling or fading. I spent about $130 with tint (I got the good stuff) and labor, and it's completely removable as well.
