Lexus Test Driver
-if it's less than 6 months, then SKIP it.
Do you have any complaints with your ride right now? noise?
-if NONE, then SKIP it.
Tire rotation( which you can do by yourself) and a bunch of visual inspections make up for the 15,000 mile service.
For full disclosure, i like to do most of the maintenance myself.
Oil changes, Cabin Filter, Engine Filter etc.
it's not just about saving money but knowing the car/machine that you're driving.
and don't forget, if a LEXUS dealer is far from where you live, you can always go to a TOYOTA dealer for these scheduled maintenance.

I skipped ours, but we bought it as a CPO with a little over 13K miles on it. We're near 20K now and I need to schedule a service. Free oil change this time, after that I'll do it myself or take it to the local Toyota dealer which is very close.

No, I don't play soccer!
The 15K is considered the first major service on the RX. It's listed on page 49 here:

I would address this question to your SA. He/She is the correct person to advise you. There are a few factors that have to be taken into consideration.

The 5,000 and 10,000 mile services are complimentary, including the tire rotation. Skipping the "must pay for" 15,000 mile service, puts your tires on a 10,000 mile rotation schedule rather than 5,000, unless done by someone else. I looked up my records for the 15,000 mile service when we had our 2010, and paid $78 in the Minneapolis area. Besides the tire rotation, it also included car wash if we wanted, key battery, re-torque drive shaft flange bolts, clean AC filter, and a print out of numerous inspections performed including fluids, brakes, boots and belts. Since the RX is under warranty, one of the main reasons I go is I always have something for them to check, along with a few questions which is free. Also, I like to enjoy the coffee bar and browse around while waiting. I realize $78 is $78, but well worth it for our 4 wheeled family member.
