What buttons go in the blanks?
Me and the wife are on the hunt for a RX350. (2010-2012) I'm trying to figure out what buttons should be in the blanks on the dash to the left and right of the steering wheel. I know to the left are headlight washers, tailgate, and fuel door. To the right in the biggest blank is where HUD should be. But what is all the other ones for? I have yet to find one that has all of them filled.
Thanks
Thanks

I just looked in a 2012 owners manual.
On the left:
Top 3 buttons: Headlight cleaner switch, power back door, fuel door
Bottom 2 buttons: Windsheild wiper de-icer, second button doesn't show anything so maybe a european or japanese model?
On the right:
Top 3: HUD main switch, hud brightnes, hud adjustment
Bottom 1: again, doesn't show anything

Thanks guys. I don't live up north to need wiper heaters nor will I be driving in dirty enough climates in this vehicle to use headlight washers. But I'm always a sucker for buying vehicles with every options.
I have yet to find a used RX that has HUD. Maybe it just wasn't a popular option for the general public.
Maybe this one will be an exception.

I am in the same boat. My wife really wants HUD. Tried to find used RX 2010-2013 with HUD with no luck for few months. The only ones available are 450h which I don't like. Not a fan of CVT. For some reason a lot of 450h come with HUD but no 350. Decided to order 2014 RX with options I want and wait 2-3 months . Good luck to find one

Also, since the HUD is a projected image reflected off the windshield, if you wear polarized sunglasses, its brightness will be greatly reduced. And in some circumstances, if you're driving with sunglasses and with the sun behind you and a brightly lit road in front, the HUD's projection will be hard to read without manually turning up the brightness to maximum.

I've got the HUD, and the display is always maxed because Maui Jim glasses are polarized. The HUD dims based on ambient light levels. That's the only negative. Otherwise, it's a handy feature. Just takes some getting used to. So many years of looking down.

No, I don't play soccer!
HUD is ok with Maui Jims on. I've gotten used to it. Another nice feature is being able to see an upcoming turn or which side of a road/highway to stay on when a destination is entered.
I'm not sure what the other blank buttons are for either There's a few in my 450h. I wouldn't be too concerned about it though. Just get the options/features you want.

HUD is great option .... no issues with prescription sunglasses and you keep the speed directly below your line of sight, handy when travelling in areas where you have to watch your speed.. BONUS: If you drive in US and Canada a push of the button changes the readout to kmh so you don't have to keep doing manual calcs in your head. Handy! It's an expensive option at $1,200 but we both find it useful and worth the cost.

I am surprised that HUD technology has not progressed all that much, at least in what has been released to the market, in the last twenty-plus years. HUD displays were available in the late 80's and early 90's. GM started it off but it never really seemed to take-off. Remember also seeing it on a friend's Nissan 240SX of the same timeframe.

Its a shame automakers don't take more advantage of the information available throughout the car. If you have active cruise control, the car knows where the vehicle is in front of you so why not put the distance to the car and its speed up on the HUD. Would be nice to know if you're cruising in the left lane and there's some self righteous slow poke doing 55 ahead of you. Likewise, you could project the rear camera on the HUD rather than in the mirror or the nav screen when backing up or parallel parking.
For a performance car you could put alot of other things on its too such acceleration and wheel slip indicators.
