Default gas mileage

I added two different speedometer apps to my phone. And set my cruise at 70, but my speedometer read 69 continuously. Then I was able to get 22.7 MPG. Then set cruise at 69, and was able to get 23.7MPG.

I’ve only had my 2010 FWD RX for a few weeks but I’m getting 20-21 mpg city driving with three fill ups and 92 octane. I’ve yet to get out on the highway. It’s right at 60k miles and I make sure the tire pressure is correct. I do notice that if I’m idling too much while sitting in traffic it drops the mileage a couple mpg on the indicator.

Sounds like pretty good mileage. City rating is 18 MPG, so if you are doing mostly city driving, that's pretty good!

Was that comparison over the exact same route, with the exact same conditions and using the same fuel source? There are too many variables otherwise.

Default Again bad mpg

Hey guys
For the last few month ive been trying to resolve my very bad mpg with my 2010 rx.
ive had a venza v6 and a nissan xterra 4.0 engine and the rx is the worst ive seen.
ive changed engine air filter, cabin filter spark plug.
ive changed my 4 brake and rotors.
i went to lexus and they said they can do nothing since i have no check engine light
i went to another independant shop. They tried to sell me an injector clean for 125$.
went to a third shoop and he said its too conplicated and he didnt seem interest in the job.
im getting 19-21 liter per 100 so ita like 10-11 mpg.
ive stopped 3 rx owner on the street and asked them about their consumption and they were all 13-15 liter per 100.
i was thinking of taking it to my toyota dealer and having a computer scan..
what shoyld i do.? Maybe sell the car...but i really like it

Are calculating MPG by hand or relying on the readout? Are you sure your driving habits have not changed? Perhaps different brand or quality of gas? More idling or carrying additional cargo or towing? Underinflated tires? New tires that are more performance-oriented and not as efficient? Someone else secretly driving your RX more aggressively than you? Are you sure there isn't a fuel leak or someone siphoning some of your gas at night? Are you using Sport/Power mode instead of ECO? So many variables and possibilities. If no other recent mods and no difference in driving style then it's really hard to say what could be the cause.

I would find some level straight hiway , set your cruise to 100 km/hr about 62 mph , and do a hour drive
I did this the other day and was down to to about 8.2 l/ 100 km, until my wife told to find the pedal on the right
than do a run about 120 km/hr and you should be about 10 l/100 km
i do have a "F" which has the 8 speed tranny
if you are mostly city driving , get an EV , as electric rates are cheap in Quebec

i bought this car in july 2017.
Im the only driver and i drive this rx like a grandma and alway in eco mode.
I checked my tire they were 30 psi. Ive adjusted them to 35psi. They are oem michelin tour hp
Im using regular gas 87 from shell or esso. I tried 91 for 2 month and it made no difference.
i just cant see the reason im getting so bad mpg and other people are getting 16 or 17 mpg in city

on the highway my consumption is a lot better. I got 9-10 l/100.
I was thinking about a used 450h but they seem hard to find .

For 95% hwy driven I get roughly 7.8 to 8.0L/100km which is roughly 29+mpg. For mix city/hwy 10.5 to 11.5L/100km depending on traffic. I also use regular gas

Astonishing. I've never managed to get mine lower than 8.9L/100km.
