Have an 2010 RX350. Radio/Sound system was intermittent on Right side about 6 months ago. Dealer unable to reproduce or retrieve error code. Healed itself prior to dealer visit.
The last night, 13 Aug 11, made a pop and squeel sound. Unable to control volume. Sounds were unintelligable then finally silence. No sound whatsoever including CD, SAT, FM and phone system.
Will schedule service with dealer but suspect entire unit is shot. Will advise of outcome.

Haunted radio repair results
As previously noted, my wife's 2010 RX 350's radio was randomly switching modes by itself (cycling through all modes and eventually ejecting the CD that was loaded).
Dealer (Richmond, Va.) was unaware of this problem (are they ever?) but he contacted Lexus (they WERE aware of the problem) which resulted in putting in a new radio (which had to ordered). Have driven the car approximately three hours since without a problem.
As suggested earlier in this thread, I asked to have the new radio's firmware updated which the dealer would not have done if I hadn't asked...as for "increasing the bluetooth sending power" the dealer seemed at a loss but finally said the firmware update would take care of it.
One final note: the new radio required re-registering with Sirius/XM as the new radios have the SAT built in rather than being a separate unit as before. The service personnel was unaware of this. So, don't drive away before checking that you're still receiving your subscription services.
Hope this helps.

I am having the same issue of the radio switching modes by itself and also turning off and on sometimes when pressing the Auto climate button. It also started after the satellite radio free subscription was over. Is a 2010 RX Navi with 26,000 miles.

I am having the same problem on my 2010 RX 350. The radio modes switch without hitting any buttons. It happens primarily when i have the A/C on and try to adjust it. What is the solution? My car is no longer under warranty. Do i need a new radio or is this a fuse issue? Trying to repair this cheaply.

You can try a reboot by unhooking the battery or pulling the radio head unit fuse which is probably in the box under the driver side of the dash under and to the left of the steering wheel. There is a guide inside the fuse box cover. If that does not help you may need a new one. I defer to other members with more electrical knowledge who may have other tips. However it does not look good.
I doubt it is fixable and would get used radio. Try eBay or call http://www.rancholexusrecycling.com/ It looks like used ones on eBay are at least $400 as it also includes, due to the design, the HVAC system controls and CD Changer etc That whole silver piece in the center.
