Dishonest Invoice Pricing
I am trying to buy a new Lexus 2010 RX350. I have gone out to numerous sites to obtain "dealer invoice" pricing for a new Lexus with navigation. WHen I have asked three different dealers in my general area of FLorida I am getting invoice pricing of about 4.5% off the MSRP. SOmetimes the invoice pricing is just about $1000 off the MSRP. All of the RX 350 's have an MSRP of $47,600. I actually was quite interested in buying a loaded RX350 which retailed at $50,500 and they were asking $46,500 even though it had 3000 miles. It seems I am being jerked around. Particularly since 2011's should be here fairly soon.
I can't very well call the dealer a liar and they have nt been forthcoming with the actual invoices.....what's a gal to do? It would seem if I can't save 10% off a 2010 MSRP, I would be better to wait and buy a 2011. ANy suggestions? I NEED FACTS.

The facrory invoice is roughly $ 43600. So $4000 off is what to aim for. Not sure if you are looking at AWD or FWD. Go to truecar.com and option it the way the dealer has it packaged. I would not pay over invoice at this point.
Good Luck.

instead of asking for pricing, determine the price you're willing to pay
i would pay no more than $4k under msrp
also figure what you should expect in your area for tax/tag/title & dealer's bs doc fees
once you've calculated this number, give the various dealers you out-the-door offer

Why do you worry so much about the invoice price?? Your price is determined by the supply and demand of the RX in your location. It may be easy to think of invoice + or - a certain amount as your target price. But the reality is that the price you set may or may not reflect your local market. If you have more than two or three Lexus dealerships in your area, just shop at all of them and see what is your best price. Once you get the lowest local price then determine if it is worth your time to fly to LA area to get your car.. LA is the most competitive car market in US and it will be the best price anyone can get... Don't get hung up on the invoice. In some market, RX is selling below "official" invoice.I don't think anyone will shed any tear for the dealer if they have to sell the car below invoice (don't worry, they are still making money. Lexus probably has some dealer cash available..).
