After getting my new Lexus a few weeks ago, I've become painfully aware of the "iPod auto-selects whatever item it stops at on the top of the list as you scroll" issue.
I've looked on a few boards and seen this complaint from a few people. I've even noticed the demo on the "how-to" CD shows how to scroll through and select items on the iPod, and the auto-select issue clearly isn't in the tutorial; the tutorial shows it working as I expect it should.
Has there been any response from Lexus on this issue? I sent the info to my sales rep at my dealer - said he and the tech guys there looked at it and can't figure it out - tells me that they will push up the corporate chain to get it addressed. I'm a little leery of that response though - the RX350 has been on sale since last year, and they even made slight revisions to it back in August, so I find it odd that the dealer claims to never have heard of this issue.
Any ideas, info anyone might have on this? I'm considering attending the factory tour in Cambridge, ON, Canada and might just ask my question then. :-)
A few threads down I saw a product being advertised that's supposed to alleviate this issue, but from what I read, it seems to have some issues of it's own
If you find a solution, please let us know. It's really a bizarre feature (or lazy programming) that auto-selects whatever song the cursor is on, while one is scrolling.
thanks guys for mentioning this issue in this manner--I was getting rather frustrated scrolling and all of a sudden its playing something I do not want.
The BMW ipod interface is better except it does not play podcasts and you can't back up on a track.
I just found another item while taking a long-ish trip this evening: It doesn't recognize chapters within audio books; just sees it as a whole music track. oy.
Yup - they need to do a software update for the iPod/audio interface. It also only shows the album name instead of song name in the title bar display at the top of the screen.
If you search, I've posted a few times about the bad programming of the audio and iPod interfaces. Should be easy software fixes but none yet.
I spent a lot of time filling out my corporate survey but have not heard anything back from anyone other than the typical "thank you for filling out the survey".
Make sure to mention these things as they should be easy to fix but if they don't hear enough complaints they probably won't bother.
