Sansa Player USB not working

I am trying to connect my Sansa c250 to the USB jack but get an error 3 on the stereo. Is it possible to connect MPEG players to USB jack?

Sansa Clip+ MP3 Player & USB Connection

When I connect my Sansa Clip+ MP3 player to the USB jack, the display screen on the Sansa Clip+ shows "Connected", and the car's navi screen shows the "USB" tab as active, but the "file" and "folder" fields are blank.

I tried all available Sansa Clip+ USB modes - "Auto", "MTP", and "MSC", to no avail.

My iPod Touch (3rd generation) connects okay and works, in USB mode. (Bluetooth is another matter - it connects, but there's only "play" and "pause" functionality available on the Lexus' screen.
