I believe the new Lexus buttons are color coded.

Congratulations on your new ride.

Very good right up, thanks for sharing your initial impressions.

I'll also paste below a link with the steps for programming HomeLink that some of us on CL have had success with.

Enjoy your new ride,

Larry

there is a touch area on the door handle, you just touch it and the doors lock.

good review! we are also considering the 3rd gen rx, but probably not anytime soon. quick question: with the premium package 2, does it come with memory seats and HID headlights or not?

Thanks for the clarification. It is a relief as when I looked at the RX at the dealership, I felt disappointed as I thought Lexus is cost-cutting by only providing the push start button while omitting the lock button on the doors.

So it is really an improvement over other existing Lexus models, such as IS. Cool!

I am in the process to buy a new 350RX.
I had before an FX35 from Infinity, and one thing i did not like is that i have the engine running and stop to get my mail, or i forgot something in the house, anybody can drive away with the car while the key is in my pocket.
I know that they can not restart the car after the engine is shut off but they can drive for a joy ride.
The dealer told me that in the new RX , if the car is driven a certain distance from the key will shut off.
It is this correct ?
Thanks
Ion

I would hope that the car would not shut off by itself while being driven under any circumstances (that has "lawsuit" and "accident" written all over it).
As for your examples, anybody could drive away with any car that is left running and unattended. If a key is in the ignition, that could be a long range joy ride. With the keyless system, it's more of a short term deal.

There is a small lock button on the top leading edge of the door handle.

I was reading the manual -- as matter of fact the same lock button is also at the bottom edge of the door handle as well. Great for snow covered door handles, etc

I am surprised they didn't add Smart Access to the rear doors as this is Lexus' best selling SUV. I wonder if its because the RX is the lowest-priced SUV in the lineup? (similar to the IS) IMO, all Lexus vehicles should have SA on all 4 doors, and only premium Toyota-badged vehicles with just the front 2 doors as they are now.

I did program my IS to unlock all 4-doors at once, but that 2-foot stretch between front & rear doors is hard!

Impresions after having new RX for a week:
GOOD:
HUD is wonderful thing! When I get back to my F, I miss this thing, it is very useful.
Ride quality (pneumatic suspension) and smooth gear shifting is working very well.
Body roll is almost equal to zero (active stabilizers)
All electronic devices are very well made, and fits very nicely
Leather is very soft (semi-aniline)
Rear wiper hides very nicely
Headlights are very bright at night
ECO light in panel makes you drive more economical (u always want it to be on)
Side wiev camera is WONDERFUL thing (easy side parking, not curbing wheel)
3D navigation is just great
Sound isolation is 10 times better then in old RX
Steering wheel is very easy turned
Improved turning radius

BAD:
Smart acces not for back doors
No more easy entry button for pneumatic suspension (when park car, it used to drop to bottom)
Audio max sound is quite not that loud compared to IS or LS (even with mark levinson)
Not very beautiful car (though my parents like it, as it is my mothers car...)

P.S. All is compared to old RX

I guess I should add the sport pkg into mine. Although this sport pkg isn't really doing too much, it should help a little bit on controlling the body roll.

I ran about 16.5 - 17 L/100km in the city. My friend got worse number due to more local driving in Manhattan.

Hope it will get better after increasing mileages.
