2015 RX350 purchase inspection
Considering purchase of a neighbors 2015 RX350 AWD with Touring package at 95k miles and taking it to our generic mechanic in a few days to check codes and so that we can look at chassis while on hoist and wondering if there is anything in particular we should look for aside from leaks, damage and corrosion . Service history is complete other than a couple of transmission oil drain and fills which neighbor said he did himself, 2 minor accidents from when it was a dealership lease car and afterward sold to neighbor as certified pre-owned at 35k miles with no further accidents other than daughter curb destroyed a couple of the 19" rims and car now riding around on winter wheels. Car drives, steers and feels like new and everything works, even smells new as it's kept inside, wondering if a Lexus dealership pre-purchase inspection would give any additional information that a good mechanic wouldn't find. Thanks.
I believe that any competent mechanic will find any(or most) issues that stands out in an visual inspection. However, any used car purchase can still be risky due to some internal engine issues or drive-line issue that may get overlooked or missed during the inspection. Dealer or non-dealer mechanic.
I always recommend having a little money set aside when buying an used car to account for the unexpected issues that may occur due to age and wear which can happen at anytime.

Welcome to CL. This sounds like a well maintained vehicle.
I agree with carguy75 that a good independent shop can conduct a thorough pre-purchase inspection. Independent shops usually have more experienced techs than dealers. They are often less expensive and less likely to make up things to be repaired that are not needed.
Mechanically the RX is a twin to, or shares the power train with several other Toyota and Lexus vehicles such as the Highlander, Sienna, ES350, Avalon, Camry. Every shop has worked on these vehicles.
If you get it and want to replace the 2 damaged wheels take a look on eBay or https://www.wheelcollision.com/
I have used Wheel Collision a couple of times to replace damaged wheels. They sell you a new or repaired to like new wheel and you send them the damaged wheel for a credit.
