Haha. It’s 2025 and people still fear mongering on one of Lexuses most reliable hybrid systems ever made, justifying how they have made the right choice of buying into old tech.

If you change one of the cells with a new one, how long do you have until the other old cells follow?
I don't know when the first will likely fail, let alone the second one.
Are you in the market or just asking questions to gain insight? If you are in the market my advice is to purchase new hybrid or within first 4-5 years. If you do excessive in city driving then you can extend to 6-8.
The high voltage battery will last over 10yrs but chances of failure start rising.

Trying to gain insight as I never had a hybrid car. Almost bought a 2016 Rav4 Hybrid though when it first came out
I do not believe that the 2010-2015 RX450H is overall unreliable. My point is to answer why the 2010-2015 RX350 is more prevalent on the roads and the RX450H sells for much less on the used car market compared to RX350.
Many people do not want to buy an used hybrid car/crossover because they believe/expect that it may require an $8k battery repair in the near future hence why many buyers probably just buy the RX350 as they have a better reputation for not needing any major repairs other than the water pump even with over 200k miles of service life.
I am sure that an RX450H will need an battery repair/replacement when it hits 200k miles or more. It has nothing to do with fear of newer hybrid technology, but common sense when buying an older high mileage car that I want to own with the least amount of running cost.
I can DIY most if not all the repairs needed on my 2015 RX350 AWD including the front timing cover leak, however it would be a major pain to remove/replace that 300+ pound hybrid battery out of a RX450H so it was a hard pass for me to even deal with that type of head ache.

Correction: The 2010-2015 RX450H battery do not seem that heavy per this video so a hybrid replacement can be performed DIY without being too expensive or difficult it seems if you can find an affordable remanufactured battery, however it still look an $3k expense even on the DIY low end.
Not bad as they still make it! This is definitely more reliable than the batteries they have out now.
Nickel Metal > Lithium.
They only use nickelmetal now on big trucks and expensive vehicles like the crown signia. land cruiser hybrid 4runner hybrid sequioa hybrid
Well it seem that is would cost maybe $5-6k for an hybrid battery change at the dealer based off that price quote. The dealer should not charge a core or shipping charge; just an labor fee I assume. However, still not a cheap repair for an old 2010-2015 vehicle.
