Radio gone whacko
Hello,
I have a 2010 RX450h purchased used 02/2023. Dealer did a great job preparing the car for sale, we've had almost zero problems with it in over a year. Has 127k currently.
But an issue popped up just recently where the radio goes beserk. Starts switching randomly and quickly between stations/pages (you know, FM1, FM2, AM1, etc.). The volume/power button stops working, but the sound can be turned up/down via the steering wheel controls. It seemed to do better when using BT connected to my phone, but then yesterday it was warmer in the cabin and it switched from BT to the radio and just was going crazy. So I think it is heat related.
I'm thinking about buying a used radio from eBay to see if that cures it, because besides the issue we are experiencing it also no longer plays/loads CDs. I'm curious if others have had similar issues and if it is the radio system or some other system that is the source of the problem. I also read that you may have to change or input a code if you swap in a different radio unit.
Sorry if this is a common issue but I did already try to search out previous posts and didn't find what I was looking for.
