Default Here's a silly question - SOS reconfiguration

Has anyone discovered a way to reprogram the SOS button above the mirror to say, dial 911? Every time I look at that little red light on startup I think there has to be a way to hack it.

And while we're on the topic of hacking, how about map updates without paying that ridiculous charge to Lexus? It hasn't been a priority because I use Google maps but wondering if its possible to find it somewhere and DIY an update as a backup.

Little late for the SOS hack. The cell towers that our vehicles used to access are now phased out.

I wanted to ditch the circuitry inside and covert it to hold sunglasses [a much more useful hack, but I can not find the factory holder.

There are threads/post regarding updating the Maps data [search will take you there]. All agree that it is not worth getting the updates.

The integrated maps would simply serve as a backup if and when necessary. If anyone can advise please do!

Since you asked ... the stale map only lacks the new streets It should be adequate backup for any one who is familiar with the approximate location of the destination or a nearby landmark. If some one has the money to spare then go for it. [New data comes out around October, but that too is not the latest]
