Default Shipping a car-alarms

Hello everyone. I have bought a 2011 RX350 and I'm having it shipped.

I need some reassurance that alarms won't go off while it is travelling on the truck/trailer because they will silence it "by any means" !!!

Thanks

The truck driver will have the vehicle's key fobs, correct? If so, they should be able to silence any alarm that happens to go off. We had a car shipped from Jacksonville, Florida to our home in Raleigh, North Carolina back in February 2012. It arrived right on time with no issues. Just make certain you are shipping with a highly reputable carrier.

You can always ask that they remove the negative battery cable from the battery terminal after they have loaded the vehicle onto the car carrier (assuming they can open and close the hood once the vehicle is loaded). But will they cause unforeseen problems when they reinstall the cable onto the terminal? I would not chance that.

Also a simple solution is to keep the vehicle unlocked if the vehicle is secured.

The transporters are skilled in this ... well I would only trust skilled drivers.

Thanks for the responses !

I don't get to chose the carrier, only the broker. I've read lots of horror stories about today's truck drivers. I can only hope that those who transport vehicles are better than average ! I have it insured with a low deductible.

It's coming from San Diego to NH. I just refuse to buy another pre-rusted vehicle !

If you do a full move, you have to deal with broker in the middle. Some of the lower rate car movers also will steer you to a broker. You get better rates as the broker combine the vehicle with empty slots on a multi-vehicle mover and your vehicle may not be a direct start to end move [they may switch from one truck to another with gaps of movement too]. That is why the brokers typically would not give you better cost. I prefer to deal with the transporter directly who pull a covered trailer with one or two vehicles only.

PS: The worst one I have heard of is the case where the moving company hangs a net over the vehicle and pile stuff in the net. And the case that I know is when the net broke.

I'm not moving house ... is that what you mean ?

I shopped for a RX350 in the south and the best one I found was in San Diego. Many salesman just weren't cooperative enough to bend over and take a pic of the underside of the car. Many cars were in used car only lots and didn't inspire my confidence when it came to sending money.

When I shopped for shipping, all I found was brokers. Not sure how an actual trucker would answer the phone all the time.

I chose the broker because they are BBB accredited as well as having a lower price than another broker who sent way too many emails. I'm having it shipped in an enclosed trailer and it's supposed to take 7-9 days so they won't have a lot of time to change trucks or wander around getting other cars... I hope.

It's all a bit of a gamble ! But so is buying any used car especially if they are already rusty.

I did pay for an inspection but they don't use tools... even their fingernails, apparently... to look under all the covers. It comes with a warranty of some kind... mostly sold by Chevy dealers ?? but I'm not expecting to need to use it.

My current vehicles (4) are all Toyotas and with the exception of the newest, a 2012 RAV4, have around 200,000 miles each. Two of them aren't allowed out in winter because they are still mostly rust free at 24 years old.
