I have a 2007 and have taken it to several mechanics and no one can determine the Freon leak. It will hold for a few weeks and then stop blowing cold. Any ideas?

I chased the exact problem for two seasons on our 09 RX .. The evaporator coil had a very slow leak…. Did the correction myself… not an easy job but VERY rewarding! Only symptom was an odor from dash vents on start up..

I'd take it to a shop that has certified a/c tech. They'd put some dye in the system & put a vacccum on it to start with. I'd change out the orifice tube....
I have one of the Refrigerant Leak Detectors from Harnor Freight.
I've used these types of detectors for many years, works excellent and this one costs $70.
>> sniffs for leaks and beeps get louder and faster as you locate the source, kinda like a treasure finder. lol
Thanks . I’ve taken to several mechanics that use these but no can find the leak.
You can ask if you like but I believe Harbor Freight will accept a return with a receipt- Refrigerant Leak Detector.
May charge a "restocking fee of 10%-20%" if they wanna get hard on ya but you can at least try it out and return if it doesn't work(and keep it if it does.
PS- if it takes less than a month for the freon to leak out, you have a good leak.
PS- I've never had a leak I couldn't detect with one of these- I could do it in 5 mins if you were here. lol
