Default Stiff Steering

Lexus RX400h 2005
My car was dangerously wandering whilst driving my mechanic tested the tracking and recommended a new steering rack. He replaced it at great expense and the car now has steering like a tank. The ABS light comes on and is totally non drivable for me. I had the AA out who plugged in his machine and it came up Torque sensor faulty. He attempted to reset it and failed. The car was towed to another recommended garage who has admitted he is unable to fix it. Can anyone point me in the right direction please.

I'd think you take it back to the shop that replaced the rack. It could be defective.

Pump and/or rack. Might as well do both. In for a penny, in for a pound. RockAuto has really bad racks and pumps. I replaced both with such and need to do it again.

Also, by "like a tank:, what do you mean? The Lexus has a more "sporting" steering effort than, say, a Sienna (I have both so I know - the Sienna is puff ball soft, the RX not so much).
