Default Looking to purchase 08 RX 350

Hi everyone,

Former Lexus GS owner and after years away from the brand, I am looking to purchase an 08 RX 350 with 240k miles for about 7k.

I know that Lexus is reliable, but is this a good buy? Two previous owners, no accidents, 74 service records all at the local dealership.

Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Have you seen it and driven it? Mileage, while it doesn't spook me, paired with the age, it will be on its 2nd or 3rd set of struts + suspension parts. If it has been maintained, you'll be good to go, if not, suspension will be a costly necessity. I see you are in NY, how bad is the underside?

That price seems reasonable even with the high mileage, but it's no bargain.
It's great that it has so many service records.

What kind of issues has it had?
How often was the oil changed?

Check for replaced steering rack, replaced water pump, etc.

I haven’t had a chance to drive it or see it. Given Covid, I’m trying to be strategic about which vehicles to see.

How many more miles do you think I can get out of this? It will be a daily driver.

Not in NY anymore; more towards the Midwest Indiana/Kentucky area.

Definitely understand that. It's going to be a hard say though, need to know more on the history. I only got around 120K on my RX330 before the transfer case went out and decided it was not worth it to fix.

If it is in good shape, little major repairs, and fits in with the southern car memo I could see you pushing another 80-100K out of it easily.

The 350 engine I personally find better than the 330 but not without it's fair share of issues/knacks. Some years were recalled for VVTi oil lines and the oil cooler lines for tow equipped vehicles, be sure to take a peek at that.

x2^^^^^^ To me thats not really a bargain w/ those miles, possibly w/ possibly w/ 190-200k. If you were over here, you could by one of my buddies mother's '07 w/ the typical nav, w/ the same 240k for $5000. Silver in great condition.

Id say with proper maintenance, and as long as it has been maintained properly previously; u should be able to get 300-400,000 out of it. These older second gen rx's are extremely durable and reliable just like a lot of the older stuff out there(well there are some exceptions to that).
