Default Leaking into boot area

I know this is a common post, and I've read as many of them as I can to get educated on the subject. But I wanted some opinions on my photos.

I noticed a small leak coming from the luggage cover bracket (pic 1) and then found out that it's a very common problem.

I took out the floor to have a look and there was small pooling of water, and what looks like legacy mold (it was dry). This gave me chance to dry and clean everything. I suspect another leak was repaired before I purchased it from various evidence and the rust.

So I think the leak is from the common failure welding seam close to the tailgate hinge.

From my pictures can anyone confirm if my theory is right?

Cheers

Nip that in the bud fast. You could be looking at the dreaded POAA6 code soon as water washes over the HV battery.

I have bought a multi layer car cover to cosset my Rx400h indoor swimming pool, some dehumidifier bags and a bilge pump.

I used waterproof gaffer tape over the seams. Next I’ll use plumbers sealant for roof fittings and aerial mount.

For light clusters - they’ll have to come out and receive a serious wedge of sealant. Lower bumper has an ingress point.

Lots of advice out there as 100s have suffered this defect.

Yeah, I'm aware I don't want to kill my battery, which is why I went out to investigate today having only seen it yesterday.

And that video was very useful as well. I guess the easiest and simplest thing is the try sealant on the weld joint and see if it fixes it.

People have mentioned sealant. Any type? Like a plumbers one for pipe repair. Is that the best thing?

Don’t delay. I just had POAA6 526 / 612 (high voltage resistance in HV battery case).

Sealant? eBay a cheap plumbers heavy duty. LX or some such.

I pointed the nose of my car downhill and forcibly ran it with a negative battery strap ECU reset because of Hybrid Check System red triangle non start hell.

Ran the car for 3 hours full heat to floor. And finally cleared a multitude of codes including horror poaa6. Thank god.

Avoid this misery with concerted dry out and seal. Good luck.
