Good Day Everyone,

I got the car back form the shop on Friday. It now shifts fine except from 2nd to 3rd. It still hesitates on that shift. Shop was unable to determine the cause. They checked the VSS sensors, wiring, ECU and found everything to be functioning properly. I think the quest to solve this might have come to an end. The shops recommendation was to either trade it in or wait til tran fails and replace.
Thank you,

Time to look for a different shop.

3 things come to mind.
-- sticking shift solenoid (SL2)
-- delayed command from the ecm
-- ring groove wear on the direct drum (DD) and cover. <-- rebuild or tranny time

Thank You everyone for the additional information. The car has been to 3 shops thus far:
1. The Dealer in Rockville, MD
2. A Transmission Shop in Frederick, MD
3. Another shop
Does anyone recommend a shop that could tell me what the issue is near the Washington DC or Baltimore area? Also, how would I check to see if its a bad shift solenoid or a delayed command from the ECM?
Thank you,

This is progress! What did they do to improve this so far?

Good Day,

From my understanding, they checked the connections to the VSS, verified that the VSS sensors are good and ran through a couple of other troubleshooting techniques that are listed online. They told me that since none of the fixes worked, they did not charge me anything. I saw that there are some posts related to the hesitation of the shifting from 2nd gear to 3rd gear with these cars. I am not sure if this is related to my issue.
Thank you

2nd and/or 3rd gear slippage very common on these transmissions. Some have said these try and upshift way too early to save gas, then when you need power and apply throttle it slips as it tries to go from 4th or 5th down to 2nd where it needs to be to apply power at lower speeds. I do recall reading a transmission firmware update for 330s here a few times. Search the forum for threads like this:
