Wet carpets but no leaks..
2008 rx 350 awd .
carpet floor under all floor mats were soaking wet after rain. No leaks anywhere. Took it to Lexus service and they said the drains from the sunroof we're positioned wrong....they were positioned to drain into the car instead of outside.
So, I'm a little confused about how and why that would happen, and why I'm footing the bill for someone else' mistake....seems like a factory defect issue? Any thoughts or ideas on why I'm being made to foot the bill to fix it?

There's a bunch of video's and write up's on you tube and on this forum about the RX sunroof drain. When they get clogged they drain into the car, under the front floor mats. you gotta stick a metal hanger or something into the drain and unclog it. my Lexus dealer said ANYTHING they could so you just pay them and drive away not fixing the issue, i had to fix it myself with trial and error. there also was a lot of dirt in my car in between the sun roof glass and the metal frame causing water to go into the car from the roof lining, a simple cleaning did the trick, unclogged the drains at the sunroof and a metal hanger at the floor to clean out just for good measure.

is the exit point of the drain accessible under the car so you could try a shop vac?
would seedeater "string" be a cleaning tool from the top? pix of where the drains are up top?

Here's a bunch of video's on the matter
there are just simple plastic tubes going from the sunroof to the bottom of the car via the A-pillar, i would not stick anything in there unless you absolutely have too. for the most part it looks like everything just needs a good cleaning to work, getting under the car with a wire hanger and or shop vac yes. this is a Problem toyota or no dealer wants to admit this exists so your in for some time and elbow grease, have patience be careful and be smart, you should be able to clean it out yourself and enjoy a few years with no problems.
