hybrid question.
Anyone know anything about the RX hybrid that will be coming out?
Will it be available with the Performance package? I really want to get one of those when it comes out.. That's the only thing holding me back from trading in my RX300 to get the 330 right now!!!!!

I've been lurking around here for a long time, and I did search for the Hybrid info, but there isn't much around in the old threads...
I specifically asked if there will be a performance package option, but none of the old threads have that info, and neither does the Lexus website, which I already checked..
Any dealers on this board have any option info?

haven't seen any option lists for the Hybrid yet - regardless, it's sure to be one helluva sporty LUV
from Lexus....
Not only will the RX Hybrid run cleaner than the average SUV, it'll run better. The Hybrid Synergy Drive has a V6 engine, yet is designed to deliver the acceleration of a V8. But despite its power, you'll get the estimated fuel economy of a compact car.* So you can feel good about saving gas. And even better about helping to save the environment.

It will be interesting to see how much extra weight it adds and what effect this will have on handling. Probably minimal effect, but I'm curious. Otherwise it would seem to be very attractive. The special battery in the upcoming Toyota Prius is supposed to last 150,000 miles, so there shouldn't be much if any extra maintenance to be concerned with. Also it will be interesting to figure out how many miles you will have to drive before the higher upfront cost begins to pay for itself due to the superior fuel economy, as compared to the conventional RX330.

I'm not sure which car mag., but I'm pretty sure I've read in one of them currently on newstands that it's going to be available as early as next spring as I browse thru them (I seldom buy them).
A $2000-$3000 premium for the hybrid is not bad at all, if the UK article is correct..
Man, I hope they are talking about Spring 2004 as a release date... I've got to start working on my wife to let me trade in for the hybrid!!!
