No More GPS Map Updates for RX330
I contacted my local Lexus dealer and asked them for the latest map update DVD for my 2005 Lexus RX330 and he stated they stopped making a map update DVD in 2015. Besides installing an aftermarket radio with GPS, is there anyway to replace the OEM GPS system with a newer up to date GPS system? I saw a website that claims to sell a module that updates the GPS to an Android GPS system and can also use the monitor to play videos and other stuff: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Andr...815387249.html
Has any one tried this? Or installed a completely new GPS system besides just replacing only the radio with an aftermarket radio with GPS?
Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

I didn't think anyone would still use their in-car GPS system. Google maps or the Waze App on your Android or iPhone device is vastly superior and all you need to buy is a $20 mounting bracket for your smartphone.

DITTO. I also vouch that Waze is not data hog. I checked. But indeed, it is vastly superior to - lame to start with - OEM nav.

That reminds me of back on the day when people would have a working tv sitting on a broken down tv. lol Ghetto, I guess after seeing my cousin's Tesla navi I must be day dreaming of installing a navi like that on my old rx330. lol
I run a Garmin Navi but everybody asks me that gets in the car why I don't use my Lexus Navi, like I have a ghetto tv sitting on a broke tv in my ride. lol

The software and everything is also proprietary, meaning no one else can update or make modifications. Your iPhone and Android is a few years old at most. Besides that, the maps constantly get updated and runs faster on your phone.
When I first switched over from the Garmin Navigation (which I bought in 2010) to using the GPS on my iPhone, it was a godsend because of how much quicker and easier the interface was to use on my phone
Besides that, there are Apps that you can download like Google Maps, Waze, etc that in some cases are better than the ones provided by the smartphone maker.

I'll mount or duct tape my $200 phone or iPad to the dash of my RX and use that rather than spend $60,000 to buy a new Tesla for the navi.

Quick Mount Ipad holders are available which are so much better than having to deal with a factory Navi system. I have a 2008 RX350 with a factory navi system in it. I put in a Pioneer AVIC system in 2012 and now I use Google maps or Waze on my phone and they both blow the other two systems away. I won't ever pay extra for a car navi system again.
