Default RX-330 and Goodyear Eagle RS-A

I just completed a 3000 mile trip with my RX-330. It seems as though the Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires are really sensitive to pavement conditions. When the road was not very smooth I could every bump and shimmer in the road. It feels almost like one of the tires is out of balance but when the road was smooth the feel was equally smooth.

Has anyone else noticed this with the Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires?

Tom

Are your tires 17" or 18"? The 17" I test drove was smooth. If you have the 18's, it's probably bumpy because of the lower profile(?). My IS was noisy & harsh; and I miss that, considering I'm borrowing my mom's "floaty-boaty" '98 ES until my 330 comes in!

Check your tire pressure. My wife's Jeep Liberty was very jittery and jarring over bumps and road imperfections too. Found out her pressures were 45. Now rides much better, even over bumps. My RX330 was about 5 over too in each tire. I even think that it rides even smooher too, but I didnt have any complaints before anyways.

Got this tip about air pressure from the Fresh Alloy board when members there found air pressures were contributing to their overly harsh rides.

Just got one with 17 inch wheels after test driving one with 18 inchers. We bought the one with 17 inch wheels because it did not ride as hard. We are on Mich Energy tires.

Default tires

Our RX 330 was also delivered at too high of tire inflation. The tires were inflated to 38psi. We didn't realize this on our long drive home. We just figured the ride was supposed to be jittery! When we lowered them to 30-32 psi, the ride was noticeably smoother.

We have the 18" rims. I believe the 17" rims are not commonly available here in the southwest.

Default ....and for those wondering about tire pressure

Think back to the cold months of the year when you last checked your tire pressure - right? You filled them up to 30 or so.

Then the summer came and you just realuized you had a harsh ride. Oops, the heat raised the pressure - simple principle of physics! Check your pressure. As they say in the manuals, check once per month.

I like mine set at 28 psi, after all it is a LUV. I leave the "road feel" ride to my little car.
