So when you use the correct key for your car it still will not start?

I wonder if Lexus uses a theft deterrent that is like Nissan. If you try to start the car with a non-registered key several times in a row, the ignition gets locked and even the correct key will not start the car. Does anyone know if this kind of system is on the Lexus?

My experience is no but I'm not sure if maybe it was a fluke or they changed it for the 350's. I tried this twice, once when I made copies of the master and again when I installed my remote start. My 330 only came with a single master which I ordered 3 spares off eBay shortly after and had them cut at my local locksmith. Since I could program them myself, I decided to play around and insert all 3 unregistered keys and try to start it and make sure the cut was correct. Obviously car didn't start with any of the copies but when I put in the master, it cranked just fine. For my remote start since it was a keyless bypass, I got the key learning sequence wrong and it wouldn't learn the original master key. I easily kept remote starting it over 10 times without lockout before I got it working properly.

Found this covered in the First Gen section... worth a try. Specifically in the part where you stick the working key in the door and turn it... read the thread.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...wrong-key.html

Being a Locksmith... I'm very familiar with many makes going into lock-out mode when trying the wrong key. But I'm not all too familiar with Lexus. Not a big following in my area of Texas.

Hope this helps.
