Exclamation Lexus Security PIN

Hi All,

I was wondering if you can tell me where I can find Lexus Security PIN ? Is this the one on a metal plate that came with the keys?

I am thinking of Lexus RX 300 (model year 2005)

Thanks

Lexus dealer can tell you. When I first got mine I took it in for a tires deal they had and I asked. Service writer stalled a bit, then told me. They like to make it a secret so only they can rekey your car. Just press nicely and they'll tell you. Comes from the VIN so you might be able to call or email corporate, but you have to prove ownership; which is easier to do at the dealer with your registration etc right there with you.

Thank you for this information. Is the security PIN needed only for programing purposes? Let's say adding new keys to the vehicle or perhaps for something else?

Yeah, pretty sure it's for 'TIS Techstream', Toyota's software that they use in all their cars. I'm more of a mechanical person than a tech one, so there are others on here that know much more about programming keys and Techstream. Search the posts and you'll find tons on it.

No, key PIN or key code is only used to make the physical key portion. Techstream does not ask for any type of PIN but requires an existing programmed master key to program a new key. I made 3 extra keys for my RX when I bought it used as it only came with 1 master key. I had the master key copied at a specialty shop so I didn't need the key PIN but had I knew better, it was cheaper to buy the keys pre-cut using the key PIN via online retailers and then program them myself.

maybe the cure (complicated keys) is worse than the disease- possible car theft.
