Default Front brake rotors Japan vs Canada production.

Hello, everyone. I have a 2008 RX350 AWD, Canada-built. The part numbers for the front brake rotors are listed as 43512-48081 for Japan-built, while 43512-0E010 is listed for a Canada-built car. Many aftermarket rotors claim to be interchangeable with either version. Do you guys know if the rotors are different, or can I put 43512-48081 rotors on a Canadian-built car?

Thanks.

I'd rather suggest to go with where your vehicle was made. Japan=Japan.

In this case they're likely the same. Lexus manufacturing just does that as different regions use different vendors and suppliers. Always check though, as sometimes, the part you should use is the one from your region of manufacture. Some sensors, interior components, and more can be different. I use MyLparts.com to get a VIN match on my parts and I go with the corresponding PN.

His was built at the Canada plant according to his post. In which case he should use the Canadian part number most generally.

I just want to replace my worn-out and warped OEM rotors with either Nakamoto or Brembo rotors. Both of those list only 43512-48081 as "other part numbers", implying the they would only fit Japan-built cars.

All the Lexus RX SUV's sold in North America are built in TMMC, Cambridge ON Canada or Japan (they have a few plants).

I believe if your VIN starts with JT (made in Japan, 2 factory locations) and if it starts with 1T will be Canada built (Cambridge, Ontario), for the North American market.

How does it answer my question? I stated in my first post, that my car is Canadian-built.

But thanks for the effort, anyway.

According to our catalog here at R1 Concepts, the 07'-09' RX350 all use the same rotors regardless of where it was built. Hope this helps.

I just caught your typo. For cars made in Canada, the VIN will start with a 2, not a 1.

If you go to drivers.lexus.com, you can down load a pdf that has a breakdown of the VIN.

Here is the one for my 2007:

This is common with Toyota. You must check supersessions to find out if the two numbers are compatible or if there is a difference in parts depending on country of manufacture. In your case the NAP number supersedes to 43512-48081 (this is the only number you can actually order, i.e. they are the same part).

Can confirm interchangeability, replaced the front brake rotors of my JP spec RX with NA spec OEM front brake rotors. No issues with fit or braking performance.

the big difference is in metals and fin design.
