Default Front strut support – dogbone replacement

Front strut support – dogbone replacement

Looking for a post on this. I have replaced this on my old Highlander and it seems that they have the same part number. Is it worth buying the OEM versus a DEA? I read that the old torn one can be repaired by using polyurethane? Anyone has done this?

In the meantime I bought a DEA dogbone and we will see how long it will last. $34.

are you talking about this part? If so i would go aftermarket, or see if you can just get the insert. On older FZJ80 LandCruisers and Lexus 450's the front lower control arms use something similar and we press those out and put in Poly inserts all the time. The toyota ones never last. if it failed once as OEM it will fail again. The Poly one will be stiffer. This looks like an interesting option with a poly insert in the stock rubber. I just googled the part.. I do not know if they make it for your specific application of the 3.5 engine or not. That is one area I would go aftermarket. If you come up with the insert only please share. If you cannot press the insert out then use a saws all and cut the band inside the dogbone will allow you to use a punch and drive the rest out. Then lightly grease the new bushing and press it in with a bench vise or an actual shop press. Nice thing with the aftermarket is you can get a lifetime warranty. Our Highlander went to 311000 before we got the RX but I cannot recall replacing that and replaced a LOT of stuff on the front of that Highlander.

That's what I need replacing. I have gone through 3 sets on the Highlander on this. I forgot about the warranty.

I purchased a DEA for about $34 off Mazon, I will check on warranty.

It's vibration dampener. Toyota has them on many parts.
