without veering too far off topic - I test drove the FX45 and yes those 300 horses are certainly more powerful - it's fair to compare the FX35 to the RX - I really couldn't spot too much difference in braking and handling but then again I didn't take it through drastic maneuvers.

what I was originally referring to were the cockpit items - I think the Infiniti Nav with it's "birds-eye" 3-D view is very cool - but I did NOT like the joystick toggle - I prefer Lexus' touch screen

I also like the Infiniti rearview cam's on-screen hash marks that guide you with distance and width

Default I finally have one

I have finally discovered something I would change about my 330. Well, besides the fact that I will have to take it in for a recall. I find that the rain sensing wipers, even set at their least sensitive position, still wipe too frequently for my taste. I frequently turn them off and just mist wipe it every minute or 2, which I find to be less distracting.

Default 2 pet peeves

Although I love the sliding console, it does not slide back enough for me to store anything useful (medium size fast food bag). If anyone has found a good use for it please post.

Also by accident, I found that if I drive in 4th gear and coast (no foot on gas) between 40-50 mph (I know, I should be in "D", but the Lexus sales person misspoke and had told us we should drive normally in 4th), there is an annoying whining sound coming from underneath the car.

Otherwise I love this rx so far!

Default Rear hatch/popping noise

I love my RX 330 and I've had it since end March 2003. Its at 10,000 kilometres now and I've just now been hearing a popping sound coming from under the driver side/rear passenger side (can't pinpoint) when I drive fast at say 130 km/hr. It only happened once but not since.

The other "bad" experience has nothing to do with the car itself but it is something that you should be aware of, if you have a power hatch. I accidentally pressed the hatch door button while my husband was standing at the rear of the car, and it hit him very hard on the head (in spite of the slow closing time). Just this evening, as the rear hatch was closing, my 10 year old who at the rear of the car bent down to pick something from the car, and knocked his head on the door. Then two weeks ago, my son closed the garage door as the hatch was opening, resulting in a deep scratch from the garage door. This little accident is costing me $900 to fix.

Nonetheless, something to be careful about if you have the auto hatch.

The only other thing is the door scrapes that I am getting on my body moulding from other car doors. It does not matter where I park!!

I love the car.

If you ever figure out the source of that sound, please let me know! We also have an occasional tapping sound in that same area at highway speeds. The dealer wasn't able to find the problem during our 1K-mile inspection. They asked if I could wait until the first oil change service, and have them investigate it more thoroughly at that time.

I received a letter from Lexus indicating that the exhaust pipes have to be replaced. The part is being recalled.

FYI I have an Acura MDX with Nav and I have to press "ok" at the disclaimer screen at start up. I am sure it's a legal thing.

My biggest complaint so far is the color combination choices - we don't like the walnut woodgrain, but like the ivory interior. So we either have to choose Black or grey to get the dark wood trim. Our 2001 RX300 has ivory with dark wood & looks great.

I thought the darker wood is the walnut - the lighter wood is the maple, no?
